Harry Potter Birthday Banner

Cricut Expression 2 Blogger Bundle

This was so much fun to make! My oldest grandson is turning 7 in April and he just loves Harry Potter. So we spent the winter vacation break making this banner for his party.     It's so funny how they know just what they want! He loves my cricut but wanted to make sure the images weren't too "cutesy". I started out cutting the Happy Birthday banner using the Imagine More cartridge with the banner image selected. At first we did the print and cut to make sure we had the color he wanted but I soon realized I already had that color card stock on hand so we just chose the cut option. The letters are from the BlackLetter cart and almost all were cut @ 3". That was the easy part!

Now the search was on to find images that matched the banners. After looking through all my carts, he found a snake on Animal Kingdom so we cut this @ 4". Just a little Black Soot distress ink and a few accents with magic marker and Slytherin was done. The ribbon banner was cut @ 1'' from New Arrivals and all the lettering is from Just Rite Stamps. I used their Times New Roman 50pt. and they fit perfectly on the "ribbons".

Even though there was a great image on the imagine cart JT, Mattie decided that he wanted to use the Eagle from Stand and Salute, go figure. this was so easy to accentuate, just a little Faded Jeans distress ink and again, marker.

Finally I got use the JT cart, lol. This image was perfect for Gryffindor! I just selected the image he wanted, separated the layers (so we would not have the crown, lol) selected the color, sized it @ 4" and then deleted all the other layers except for this one. Shaded him with Spiced marmalade distress ink.

The badger was the hardest image to replicate. We finally found a skunk on the Animal Kingdom cart and cut him @ 3.25" and then cut off most of the tail! I only used the main image cut in textured black card stock. Every time I tried the layers in black and white there was no getting around it: it was a skunk, lol!!! By cutting it in all black and using a white gel pen it gave a much better look.
So now you have our take on the Harry Potter theme for a birthday party. As time goes by we will most likely use these images on goody bags and games. Stay tuned and as always I love your comments!
