Easter Basket Card

How fun is this! I really love making cards with my Imagine. I used the Celebrate With flourish cartridge for the Easter basket @ 2.5". For the layers on the image I used the Elise imagine cart but the background square was an image from Paper lace using the Elise cartridge for the printed paper. How cool is this?
What is so great about the Imagine is that I can select all my layers in relative size ( so I know they are all going to size together neatly) but I can go back and color each layer separately using a palette that co-ordinates well on that particular cart.
I like to have my embellishments pop so I embossed the basket with my cuttlebug and then inked the edges. The eggs have glossy accents on them to add dimension to the eggs. Of course you have to add some prima flowers, gradient gems from creative charms and then some ribbon.
Finally I use some new tags from Spellbinders and added my sentiment using Just Rite Stamps for the "happy easter". Quick and easy without wasting time looking for paper.
You can purchase this card in my etsy store.

I Love Dance!

Hello Super Bowl Sunday! My oldest daughter and I just came from seeing the movie "Black Swan" and it was great. I enjoy a good ballet since all 3 of my girls danced all forms of dance. This reminded me that I had made recital cards for my grand daughter and her 2 cousins a week ago and forgot to share them with you.
As a member of the Cricut Circle we receive 4 exclusive cartridges a year. The latest one is "Shall We Dance" and has many wonderful dance cuts and phrases. This little ballerina was cut @ 3" including the shadow. This 4.25 x 5.50 card is rather simple since I wanted the image to stand out. The one problem with this cart is that the shoes do not match up. It also has ballet slippers but the tap shoes have heels. This was not what I wanted for a 4 year old. As a result the tap shoes are hand colored with a black glaze pen which makes it look more like patten leather tap shoes. Of course you need stickles and rhinestones to jazz her up. The background is swiss dot embossed and I added some prima flowers.
.
Just Rite stamps is a fabulous stamp company that lets you choose your own font and sentiments. This was perfect for making the inside sentiment "congratulations on your dance recital". The "Tap" is also from the cart so this was a fairly easy card to make. There is also die cuts for the other forms of dance on this cart. I can feel a dance mini book coming on!

Sometimes People Suck

Hi there! Yesterday I went to get my usual cup of coffee at our local center store. It's a small gas, convenience, deli shop run by a really nice couple. They have made fantastic changes to the shop in this small sleepy town and also work long hours. In other words a truly nice caring couple.
We recently received about 18" of snow in the last snowstorm. Even though people were advised to stay off the roads, this couple opened as usual at 5am. Our Governor told non essential workers they should stay home. These shop owners ARE essential , to the snow plow drivers, lol.
Anyways, here we are 4 days out from the storm. The snow is somewhat melting, getting a little slushy. You guessed it. Some woman (not a regular) slips in the parking lot. She goes back in the store and tells them she thinks she has to go to the Emergency Room because she thinks she sprained her ankle! Think lawsuit.
Can anything just be an accident today?
I have sent these people several cards and they both really enjoy them. When I walked in the store she came over and said "just give me a hug" and then proceeded to tell me what happened. As I was leaving she asked me if I could make her a card that they really cheer her up.
Voila, this is what I came up with. I used my Spellbinders nestabilities and my Just Rite stamps. I REALLY love these stamps. I can stamp anything I want to say. The background paper is DCWV the All About Girls Stack. I added a few butterfly embellishments to make it a pretty card and to add an element of surprise (you would never expect the inside sentiment, lol).
Hope you all have a great day!!
