Let's Play Street Hockey!

     Welcome back to another WYEGW!!! In case you are new to this concept let me explain. The design team creates a project using the feature keys on the left hand side of your handbook. We cannot use the main images. This is a fabulous way to explore the "hidden" images that you may have overlooked and to find images that can be incorporated in your projects. Today I decided to make a lay out. I usually am a card maker but I really want to challenge myself more and these pictures were too good to store away, lol.
     While my daughter Joelle and her husband Mark had a much needed weekend away to attend a wedding, I (AKA Mema) had the pleasure of watching their 3 little boys. The oldest had a baseball game one day and a semifinal for street hockey the next day. I forgot my camera for the ball game but made sure I had it on hand for the hockey game.

     You are reading that correctly, Ben got his 1st goal which helped them win this round. The chipboard piece "This is where the story begins" was a wonderful surprise from Erica with my last order and it just was perfect in every way: color, sentiment and shape. (Thank you Erica!!!!).  The title was cut from Alphalicious @ .75" using the short stack font as well as short stack shadow and my background paper is from DCWV The Guy Stack.

     There is a great image of hockey sticks in Everyday Paper Dolls on page 55 under the Accessories 2. I cut these @ 5" but hide the puck on my gypsy. They use a ball for street hockey not a puck, who knew, lol. I used a red Candi for the ball and it is over a pop dot. I used some distress emboss and clear embossing powder to give the hockey sticks some shine. Finally I added some liquid pearls to add some detail to the sticks. Did you know erica has a web store?      Of course if you use Everyday paper Dolls you have to use a paper doll, don't you? I found this hockey/football helmet also on page 55 but the helmet is under Headwear>shift and the grill face plate is on Accessories 2>shift. I used Pink By Design stamps for the face (yup the princess set) and used my white glaze pen to add a sparkle to his eyes.

     I love how this came out. I also used the clear embossing powder on the helmet as well. The face plate is cut from silver card stock and they all were cut @ 5".

     This lay out would not be complete without a goal net since Ben was up close and personal with it, lol. I believe I also cut this @ 5" as well. I did cut this 2x, once out of burgundy color and the other of a metal gray card stock. After I matted all the pics, I used an extra layered mat to do some journalling. This helmet was a Pink By Design stamp from the set: Sports Fanatic. This set has the hockey sticks as well if you do not have EDPD.

Celebrating Fathers' Day!

     This week Erica asked her Design Team to use a shiny element on their project. Ok, next to bling I love shiny elements and just had to use this on a Fathers' Day tag.
     Last week we used a clear element and since I had an extra tag left over, I used that as my starting point. I used the Picturesque cartridge but this time I used the image on page 33, the tag feature @ 2" for the clock. Since I had metal clock "hands" I used my gypsy to hide them from my image. This was cut from a shiny gold card stock. I also cut the tag on page 76 with the shadow feature and flood filled the image with the clocks pattern from page 8 of the Heirloom cart. I love how you can change the tone by using a different color card stock. I used a beige color to get a muted tone.

     Now I set about "aging my clock so I pulled out my alcohol inks (caramel and rust).I also added some distress ink vintage photo to the edges and some Tarnished Brass distress stickles to the eyelet. Do you see the black shiny Roman Numerals? Well Erica has enabled me once again, lol. I used the glaze black pen by Sakura. It was included in one of my orders from Erica (she spoils us rotten, lol).      The clock hands and gears were some I picked up at Michaels' and tied it with some twine. I decided to go with a more generic sentiment so I could also use it for a male Birthday if I needed it. I think the sentiment was from Inkadinkado which Erica also sells.

     As you can see each of these has its own personality (just like our Dads!!!). I wish all of the Dads out there a very Happy Fathers' Day. Mine is an angel so I now spoil my husband who made me a mom to our 5 children. He really wants a CD by Adele. It's a good thing I love her too.

Always My Daughter Tag

     I am so excited to be here with you on WYEGW! In case you are wondering, this means we usually use a feature key in our booklets yet today we were to incorporate the use of a clear element as well. Since I am not one to shy away from a challenge I decided I would really love to try this.
     I really love tags. I always try to keep some on hand just in case I forget to make a card (ya right,lol). So I decided to make a tag to match the card box I made last week. It is a great way to use up scraps as well.

     I started with the tag from Picturesque on page <76> and cut one from cardstock and one using Grafix Clear Craft Plastic @ 2". For the clear plastic I used the multicut x2, speed 5 and pressure @4 with the deep cut blade on my Imagine.
     I chose the rose tag on page 51 tag shift @ 2" and used a Zig pen to adhere the top layer to the plastic and ran the backing card stock through my Xyron before putting it all together. My sentiment is by Pink By Design's "all in the family". In order to have it stick to the clear plastic, I used Archival Brilliance Coffee Bean.

     I always love to use some type of bling, so for this project I used Copper stickles to outline the rose petals on the top layer. Finally I used a copper eyelet to reinforce the hole on the tag and added a bow. You can find great prices in Erica's Store http://www.shop.ericascraftroom.com/.      I bet you wonder what is in the box, lol. Well, several years ago we were at Disney World and were in Norway @ Epcot when I smelt this wonderful fragrance. (I LOVE perfume!!!) Once inside the gentleman Geir was signing bottles of his fragrance "Laila". It was named after his mom. It turns out it is the official perfume of Norway and was in the gift bags handed out to the stars at the Emmy's! I wasn't the only one who loved this but one of my daughters and my daughter-in-law as well. I snuck back into the store while they we a ways ahead and bought 5 bottles. Yes I did keep one for myself. Well they all got one for Christmas that year and they treasure it to use only on special occasions. However, all of us have diminishing supplies so Amazon to the rescue! I was able to get her a bottle and can't wait to see her reaction. I highly recommend this perfume. Every time any of us wears it you ALWAYS have people ask what you are wearing it's such a clean beautiful fragrance . (It also stays with you the whole day.)

Erica's Craft Room 100 Cricut Cartridge

     Welcome to Erica's 100 Cartridge Blog Hop. I am so delighted you decided to join our very talented Design Team. Our goal is to show you some of the projects that you can make with your Cricut cartridges. I do hope you find some inspiration along the way and that you try some of these yourself.

     I am using the Yummy cart for the Imagine, Tinkerbell and Robotz cartridges for my projects.So let's get started:

     I just love using this cart. The image is on page 8 of the booklet which I cut @ 2".I cut one image combined and then separated the images so I could use just the flowers of which I cut 2 more layers. Then it was just a matter of embellishing the flowers with some lime green stickles on the leaves, glossy accents on the flower and glossy accents plus glitter for the frosting. After it was dry I used pop dots to raise up the flowers.

     While all that was drying, I cut a background mat using Elegant edges on page 52 with the oblong and shadow feature. I used Smooch pearlized accent for the flower centers after I inked the edges with Tumbled Glass distress ink. You know me, I love glitz, so I used some Zing embossing powder in silver glitter finish for my sentiment. Of course I used Pink By Designs stamp set called "age is only a number."

     This guy is so cute! I made this card for one of my Grandsons who turns 2 the end of July. This Robot is on page 57 of the Robotz cart. He is the Retro Botz. The layers I used were Retro Botz+shift, Layer 2 shadow+shift, Layer1+shift . Whew that's a lot of pieces! I cut him @4'' so the pieces weren't too bad to work with. I inked everything while the cuts were still on the mat before I remved any of the card stock. This actually makes it so much easier to ink. The distress inks I used were Faded Jeans and Spiced Marmalade. I used a 5"x7" base and matted it with a piece of printed card stock from DCWV All About Boys Stack. Again I used the same PBD stamp set however I found there was a defect in this particular phrase. The #2 just wouldn't stamp right so I decided to use the black glaze pen Erica sent me as a member of the DT. (LOVE when she does that!!!). I am so pleased how this glaze added so much to the dimension of the phrase.

     Provo Craft also has some awesome embossing folders which go with some of the carts. I love embossing and my cuttlebug but I didn't have room to do this on the front of the card sooo, I embossed the inside!

     I had to use a wobble to make this robot really move, lol. This was missing something so I decided to add some "screw" brads to the corners before I put everything together.

      My final project is the one and only Tinkerbell! I used the image on page 30 and cut it @ 3.5". The cuts on this cart can be challenging especially for facial features such as the eyes and mouth. So I decided to add the features by going over the cut marks with a fine archival pen before I assembled all the pieces. to add a little life to her eyes, I used the white glaze pen Erica also included in my package. Tink is also on a wobble action device.

     I had also received some Zing red embossing powder and flower soft from Erica (I told you she was good to me, Hee Hee) so I found these would be perfect to use on this card. The flowers and butterfly is from Inkadinkado stamps and the sentiment is from My Time Made Easy. I used Versamark Dazzle Ink and the Zink red powder for the flowers  plus a white opaque embossing powder for the butterfly.i finally had a chance to use the flowersoft for the center of the flowers. This is really cool stuff to use.

Altered Card Box

     Good Morning on this beautiful Memorial Day! I hope you all are enjoying beautiful weather and are not too stuffed from all the cookouts, lol. Today the Erica's  DT has some beautiful projects to share with you so I hope you will take a moment to see what we have been working on.

     I have been exploring the CCR and had just purchased the Banners digital download so I thought I would show you what I came up with. Of course I also used my Imagine!!

     I found these plain boxes @ Michaels' and thought they would be perfect to hold some handmade cards of mine. The boxes are about the size of a cigar box and are ready to paint, decoupage, stamp etc. I didn't take pictures as I went along so let's just jump into the details.

      First I painted the edges with a gold dauber and then used gel medium to decoupage my paper on the box. The sides and bottom have a faux wood looking paper. This gave me the idea to make the banner wood looking also. I started by making the banner at 5" long out of a cream card stock in the CCR. By adding another mat in the CCR, I was able to add the "Cards" font by using Divine Wedding cart at .75". I used the separate layers feature to print the font first and then cut the banner.
     I cut 3 banners and then adhered them together before I inked the edges. Once the ink was dry I applied some paper glaze to give it a little protection. Would you like to see the finished project?

     I told you you could paint, stamp and decoupage these boxes so I did all three, lol. I even added a braided ribbon and some Tim Holtz adornments to the corners. I'll show you a few more pics of the details.

     I used some Zing copper embossing powder and some Imaginisce bling for the top and bottom right hand corners.

     I have so many left over beads that I made a hanging charm to peek out of a corner of the flowers.

     Speaking of flowers I love how these turned out. I used distress inks and found I had some that even matched my paper. I even love how the leaves turned out.
   Erica is so generous with her DT that she sends us some really neat stuff to try for our projects. In one of my orders she had sent me some cuttlebug dies that had these great leaf dies. They are 2 pieces sort of like a blackout and the top part of the leaf. They look beautiful with a chalk glimmer.
