     Happy Thursday! Pinquette Mary here with a little project for you today. Ok, it's not really a "little" project. I have been really tied up with one of my daughters having shoulder surgery. Nurse Mary has been on duty 24/7 when what I was anxious to do was to make a project with my awesome DT packet of goodies from Jessica at the Pinque Peacock, lol.
     Have you ever had a "vision" pop into your head when you just have to attempt it? Well, this was what happened with my project that I am going to show you today. Are you ready? Let's take a look....

      
     This is an 8"x10" canvas board that I used for my base. I wanted it to look like a tree trunk with the heart carved into it.  First I started by painting my canvas board with brown paint then let it dry overnight.

     I cut out a heart from contact paper with my Cricut. You can use any heart shape you choose from whatever cartridges you have. Next I used Rangers crackle paint in Picket Fence. I put it on quite heavy so I would get a bark look. I also wanted the heart to be smooth like a carving. You really don't have to be fussy since it all will be inked. You just want the crackle effect for bark.

 

     I think I used every dark colored distress ink I had on hand: vintage photo, walnut stain, antique linen, scattered straw and even black soot. You just have to keep playing until you get the effect you are looking for. I did not take the heart off until all the tree was distressed. This made it so much easier to add depth to the heart and I could concentrate on its outline.

     These metal letters are some I had hanging around and thought they were perfect for this project. I used some jewelry glue to adhere them as well as the lock and key.  The sentiment is computer generated and says: "Real love stories never have endings." I just tore the paper and burned the edges for a tattered look.

     Lastly I stamped the stems and leaves with StazOn ink. One spot I missed when I stamped them so I decided to add a few rhinestones for dew drops! Of course I also needed an arrow so I used a grunge board piece and painted it with Black Soot.

Now, onto my project today . . . .

     Good morning my sweet friends and Pinquettes. I am so excited to be part of this fabulous event. In case you just stumbled upon my blog please let me explain what all the excitement is about. Jess from the Pinque Peacock and Stacey and Kendra from Sweet Stamps offered products from their companies to the members of both Design Teams for us to create some fabulous projects for you. We have busy creating with all our goodies and boy are we having fun!
     The Sweet Stamp products I chose to use were: Wedding Swans and "with love" rubber stamps and also some gray ink spot. The detail on these stamps is fantastic and a great image to color with my copics. The Pinque Peacock products were: a large button from the May Release and a beautiful angel stick pin from the June release. I also used some 3girl jam ribbon that you can also get @ Pinque Peacock shop on FB. Just to get some business out of the way I have provide links to their shops below:

Sweet Stamps and Pinque Peacock.

     Since we had a wedding to go to in May, I thought for my project I would use the Wedding Swans Stamp. Here is what I came up with:

 

     First I stamped the image with Momento Marker in Sweet Plum Ink because I wanted the colored image to stand out rather than a black outline. I used several Copic techniques to color my design. I have included the supply list of the copics below this post for you all to experiment with.

      I started with a piece of grey card stock that has a sheen to it. I used the Spellbinders classic scalloped circles-large to make an aperture in a 5"x7" card. I also cut a piece the same size out of pink card stock. This gave me my placement for the image. In order to make sure it lines up perfectly, I add a glue dot to the back of the circle and carefully lower into the opening. Once I know that it is centered correctly I can then use my Xyron tape to hold it all in place.

     Voila, perfectly centered! After I carefully colored my image I added some stickles to the flowers and to make the water glisten. I also used some gold Liquid Pearls for the wedding rings. Notice the slight blush to the swans cheeks. They look like blushing love birds, lol.

     I just love the colors in this button and how it picks up all the colors I used in the stamped image. No matter what Pinque Peacock products I use, they always bring out the best in my work. Of course I had to add an angel stick pin. Believe me when I say that the pictures do not do these justice, they are so beautiful in person. I finished this card off by adding the sentiment with a Spellbinders deckled rectangle cut piece of card stock and Sweet Stamps "with love" sentiment. Since I layered this on a piece of glittered card stock
(we all know how hard it is to adhere anything to it, lol) I used some small heart brads to hold it all together. The look was completed with some 3GirlJam ribbon from the pink and white bundle.
     I find sometimes when you make this type of card that it is hard to be able to add money or a gift card inside. You know I'm right,lol. So this is what I came up with:

     Yup, I added a small glassine envelope inside! This allowed us to add $$$ to the inside, still have room to write and add an element of surprise when they opened the card.

A New Beginning As a Pinquette!

     Good morning ladies and fellow crafters. Take a look around, do you see anything new? Come on my announcement is here for all to see. Didn't see it yet? Look at the right side bar. There ya go, lol. I am thrilled to now officially announce that I have joined an outstanding group of overly talented ladies. After being on another Design Team for over a year, I decided I needed a change. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my time on the other team and learned a lot but I was thrilled when the opportunity arose to apply for a position with the Pinque Peacocks owned by Jessica Shelton-Buffa a fellow crafter with an amazing on-line store. She and my fellow DT sisters welcomed me with open arms. I am so lucky to be with some old friends and look forward to making some new ones on this Team. Wait until you see the talent over here. O My Gosh!!! This is just so exciting for me.
     For those of you who have come to my "home" for the first time let me fill you in on a few facts. I am a wife for (almost) 40 years, mother to 5 grown adults ( there is a set of twin ladies in there) and Mema to the most beautiful, talented, awe inspiring 8 grandchildren (3 girls, 5 boys).I retired from nursing (I was a Labor & Delivery room R.N.) when my second child was born. ( Thank God 'cuz the twins followed about 2 1/2 years later. I sewed dance costumes, prom dresses etc to help pay for extra activities for our growing family. My therapy was to take all kinds of craft classes, tole painting, ceramics (my least favorite medium BTW), advanced sewing classes, both Copic Certification classes, flower arranging etc, etc. As you can see I love crafts. These skills have helped me to work as a floral designer for the last 12 years and boy was that handy with weddings, showers, christenings and all kinds of parties. I recently retired since my back will no longer let me, lol.
     Okay that's enough about me. This new DT has given me the opportunity to create what I want, when I want and in whatever medium I choose. The Pinque Peacock has THE most fabulous products from flowers, to stick pins to fabric covered buttons as well as gorgeous stretch bracelets.You can find their products HERE  This link takes you directly to the product page.      I thought I would share a card I made with you today. Hey, this is a crafting blog so I don't want to disappoint you, lol. Before I share this please envision how great this would be with a PP flower. I do not have any in yet but rest assured future projects will be loaded with goodies!

     My base for this card is from My Minds' Eye Life Stories "Roses" pattern. I grabbed a piece of good quality cream card stock and embossed it with a cuttlebug folder. I found the heavier card stock gives a great embossing effect. Next up the flowers.

     I used Flower Shoppe to cut my flowers with the image on page 14. I also used a Spellbinders to cut the leaves. I wanted to add some "Drama" to the card so some of the leaves are out of black glitter card stock. I have these great rhinestones and this one was perfect for the card.

     I have a lot of little pieces of lace from former projects (I don't throw anything out, lol. Glad I didn't!). I just wove a narrow pink satin ribbon through the lace. Stamped a nice sentiment and, Voila, I have a great card. I'll probably use this for a wedding.

Nautical Wedding Invitation

     Now that I have been to the wedding shower and know everyone has received their invitations I can finally share the process!Becca wanted a nautical theme, not a beach theme so we looked for ships, anchors, and ship's wheels. Thankfully Provo Craft has Life's A Beach and I was able to find all that I needed along with Imagine More.
     I presented her with the idea of a pocket type card to hold the reply card, reception and direction cards as well as the main invitation. I found the perfect kit by Wilton called the "String Of Pearls".

     This was a perfect selection for the outside since it had a wonderful crisp white with a nice satin sheen to it.

     This layout was just perfect for what we were looking for. It was very neat and organized and had a nice bead border almost like roping. The nice thing about this is that the template allowed me to change the font color and style so I could really customize these. Her colors are like a navy and a nice fresh green color so they were a very refreshing color to work with.

     Ready for the finished product? Here ya go:

     I started by adding a band of navy satin ribbon. ( My oldest daughter suggested it. Hey ya gotta give credit where it is due, right!).   I had found this roping at A.C. Moore in the yarn section. It has a nice satin sheen to it as well so it was just right for a classy wedding invitation. The image is from Imagine more and I changed the outer ring color to a more navy color but kept the inner ring and ship the same. This was cut @ 2" but I separated the layers but kept them at relative size so that everything was proportionate. I used a glue dot to secure the rope and image but made sure to bring the rope thru the ring.

     Here's the inside. Tada!!! First I used the Imagine More cart again. I chose the cut and print option and cut a 5"x7" with the same patterned paper as the inner ring of the life preserver. How cool is that? The outer layer is a blue card stock that also has a sheen. I bought that at Michael's from their recollections collection.In order to keep with the nautical theme I cut an anchor from Life's A Beach @ 1.25. Since I had to make 100 invitations I wanted to save some money on this project. There wasn't any silver card stock with the right color I wanted so I went to the canvas section @ M's and found this poster board for $4.00. I just cut it to 12x12 so I had 4+ sheets to work with. (Maybe there will be a lot of silver in my Christmas cards this year!)
     Once everything was printed it tucked neatly into the pocket. The only thing I would do different would be to add a silver compass on the directions card. BTW speaking of directions card. The front has directions to the church and the back has directions to the reception. Rather than buy more cards to use for the back, I cut some card stock the same size,printed the directions and used my ATG gun to glue them together.

   This is how the guests received their invitations. ( even though they were hand stamped, thank USPS for the wrinkled appearance, grrr). Bet you were wondering where the ships wheel I was talking about went to. Here is where it ended up! It is also from Life's A Beach and is also cut at 1.25". The circle behind it is from a circle punch with the leftover scraps from the blue background paper.

Becca had purchased these cute silver ships as part of the favors so everything just sort of fell into place. I had used the same RGB codes so all the font colors were the same from the invitation to the place cards.
I will leave you with one final picture. Of course it is of the wedding cake. Although I had nothing to do with this, I wanted to show you how wonderfully everything continued to carry out the theme.

As you can see the border includes small anchors.

Wedding card tags

     Here I go again! I love the challenges at Just Us Girls (JUGS). The great thing about doing challenges is that if you plan it right, you can get a future card or gift done using the challenge criteria. For example, we have a wedding to go to in September and the wedding party is in brown and pink. JUGS # 38 is to use brown. pink and vanilla so this was a perfect way to do my wedding card for the happy couple.
     The pink card stock and cream sparkle was by DCWV Mariposa , the brown and pink dot and brown card stock were also from DCVW stacks. I used the bride and groom tags from Provo Crafts Sweethearts cut at 3" and inked with Tim Holtz Timber Brown. The stamp is a wonderful set by Lauren at My Time Made Easy and is stamped on a nestabilities. Both ribbon choices are leftover from other projects and the charm is also left over from MANY wedding and shower projects.I finished it off with some pearl accents and a brad for the tag holes.
     I wonder what the next challenge is, lol.
