Happy Mothers' Day!

We recently celebrated my Mom's 85th birthday. At first we discussed having a big party, but after a while realized that with such a large family (5 children and their spouses, grandchildren and now great grandchildren) we never have just "us" time. Its so chaotic when we all get together that we thought Mom would appreciate some quiet time with her children! We had a lovely elegant dinner at my home. What she appreciated most was that we had all her favorite foods: crab appetizers, shrimp and scallops wrapped with bacon. The main course featured strawberry spinach salad, lobster thermador, sirloin strip steaks, creamed fresh asparagus and baked potatos. My BFF wastaking a cake decorating class so offered to make the cake. It was incredible, a lemon cake decorated like a hat with fondant and gum paste mini two tone carnations. My sister-in law Deb even made a strawberry rhubarb pie which we were too stuffed to eat! Thank goodness it didn't go to waste since Easter was the next day! My Mom's best surprise was that my sister and her husband flew in from Il, always such a pleasant surprise!
Enough about the party, lol, Mom wanted pictures from her party but I had already planned way ahead. Since it is so rare we all get together and you never know how many times any of us have left, I took pictures of all the couples and one with just Mom and her children. I had planned to make this wall hanging so she wouldn't forget the evening we had all together. Needless to say it was a hit for her Mothers' Day gift! For all the Mothers out there and those who care for children: Happy Mothers' Day.
